We had the opportunity to photograph Laura and most of her team with Soiree Special Events today. We just love Laura and all the coordinators within Soiree as they are so pleasant, delightful, and always on top of things! Laura herself has such a laid back personality that it goes so well with the title of Coordinator! We have seen her handle some pretty extreme circumstances without caving under pressure. Laura comes as one of our highly recommended Coordinators, along with the whole Soiree Team!

Oh and when Laura is not working she gets to spend some of her extra time with her super adorable hubby!

Sonia and Bryan were married during a ceremony at Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria, which was the first Indian wedding to be held at Belle Haven, although we have photographed American receptions there it was nice to see it done up in the South Asian way. Nicole Duncan the coordinator over at Belle Haven was an absolute pleasure to work with as this venue always comes highly recommended. Their ceremony was followed by their reception of 600 guests at the NBM, any less in number, the building may have swallowed them as it is just that huge!

Sonia went with more traditional Indian colors, however it went so well with the colors and interior design of the NBM and the linens were just beautifully done. Linens play such a key part in over all appearance of any event and can jazz the room no matter where the event occurs. Prabha Bhambri (No fear ladies, Prabha will have a website shortly!, but in the mean time here’s her contact number 703.759.0068) was the decorator for this affair as well as the Coordinator, it was pretty smooth sailing the whole evening with everything happening on time without a hitch, flawless some would say. LSD Bhangara Dance Team (Don’t know if they have a site or not, however here is a contact for them: Jattness01(at)yahoo(dot)com, please be sure to let them know we sent you!) performed and as always were on top of their game, the lighting team over at John Farr Lighting did a wonderful job with lighting up the NBM and making it even more magnificent than it already is, as if anyone thought it was possible.

We had a blast with the Jolly and Wahi families as they were so cheerful, pleasant, and full of life! I don’t think anyone wanted the reception to end, but as we all know from experience all good things must come to an end… onto some of our favorites from the evening!

Sunanda and Sudhir were one of our couples from April as some may remember their 3 day wedding posted early in the year. They were guests at Ashley and Kunal’s wedding this past weekend so we took a quick photo of the happily married newlyweds! We thought that since we were posting we may as well throw in a few favorites from their wedding as we had not posted any images from their wedding up until now, however hopefully they don’t mind us sharing just a couple

Where to start! Ashley is one of the most dynamic Indian brides that we have met! Totally against the grain in a great way! When we first met Ashley at a bridal show in February hosted by the Sheraton National and Priti Verma with L’Ambience she just radiated joy! We will never forget when she came up to our table and said that she knew that when she was getting married that we were going to photograph her wedding after seeing our work before from various events. When she told us her wedding date of July 4th weekend we did not have the heart to tell her that we had been planning a trip to India for the month! When we were heading home after the show there was something about Ashley’s personality and her enthusiasm that Srinu and I said we will see, if she calls and we hit it off then we could possibly push our trip to the winter. Well no doubt she rang up and now she is finally married! And yes as she said at the show, we in fact did shoot her wedding!

Two of our most favorite images from her wedding was that of Ashley and Kunal honoring Ashley’s father who has passed. The images to us are somewhat evoking as we were there to see how deeply he was missed. If you notice in the two images we captured the one appears to, through our eyes, show the heavens shining down on them while the other one in which Ashley is trying to hold back her tears, there is what appears to be a shining star (Reflected light.) on her head that to us caught our eye and somewhat felt as if it signified a blessing, a sign of peace that although not in person but through spirit her father was indeed there with her on that day.

Her decor was stunning as the colors were not quite as traditional. They were uniquely their own. Her selection of decor for her Sangeet, Ceremony, and her Reception were both breathtaking and distinct in color. As always the North Bethesda Marriott is also one of our favorite places to photograph weddings! The decor for this affair was provided by Sachi Sood with Partyland. We will update Ashley’s talented hair and make-up artist information once I find the info as they both rocked it! The outfit colors that she had chose for her Sangeet and her Lehenga for her reception were so fitting with her bubbly personality! Oh not to leave out Kunal as he kept us laughing the entire time! None the less as he is so Ashley’s style! LOL! Congratulations and we love you guys!

One question that you never have been asked as a photographer, or at least we have not had asked. “Do you back up your wedding files, and how?”

We will often see wedding magazines here and there, whether we are out grocery shopping or airport hopping and pick one up just to see what is inside, whether it be the images or the content. I don’t think that most of them have caught on to the digital era at this time as to what questions now should and need to be asked when consulting with a potential photographer. One in particular is of course back-up equipment, which everyone asks about but how deep should you really pry when trying to figure out to what extent your wedding image files will actually be saved?

Here at RP we found out just how valuable our back ups truly were when a virus swept into our main computer where we access all our files and began deleting the folders right before our very eyes! Suddenly you just start seeing them disappear! Talk about scary! We immediately shut down and disconnected our network as we always keep a back up set of files stored on external disks. With that said we purchased a new 4-Bay Hot-swappable RAID 0/1/5/6/JBOD NAS (For gadget geeks such as Srinu it runs on Linux). This certainly is our best investment yet. So all of last week here at RP we were copying all of our back up files to our new backup system.

Most people would probably think to themselves, “Why in the world would they share this???”, Well for the same reason we feel that it is so important to make sure that your images are in good hands no matter who you hire to shoot your wedding day. With that said we are up to date and current with all of our shipments and those of you who are awaiting orders they have been shipped and are on their way!
